Endorsement Application Steps

Work through these in order. This sequence is the fastest way to move from out-of-state license to a board-cleared application in Ohio.

  1. Earn a Master's Degree in SLP

    Complete a master's degree from a CAA-accredited program. Must include 375 hours of supervised clinical practicum, including 25 hours of clinical observation. At least 250 hours must be at the graduate level.

  2. Obtain a Conditional SLP License

    Apply for the Conditional SLP License ($210) to begin your clinical fellowship. Complete 9 months full-time or 18 months part-time of supervised clinical practice under an experienced SLP.

  3. Pass the Praxis Examination

    Achieve a passing score on the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology (test code 5331). The current passing score is 162. Exam fee: $165.

  4. Apply for Full SLP Licensure

    Submit the full SLP license application ($200) via the eLicense Ohio portal. Include official transcripts, Praxis scores, clinical fellowship verification, headshot photograph, and background check results.
